Well, I just saw a Ford Windstar proudly boasting a “Traction Control” badge on the back.

I remember Ford used to do that along with gm “stabilatrac"

I remember when they used to advertise all maner of wonderful things:
“Automatic”
“6 speed”
“Overdrive”
“Air con”
“Diesel”
“Injection”
“Turbo”

I like the old GM products with ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION as part of the model badge

“Seats”

Well, I’ve seen Seat....

Somewhere in my garage I have a 2nd gen Prelude steering wheel that says "POWER STEERING" on it.

“6 speed”
I remember “5 speed” badges. I believe they were common on early-mid 80s Saabs.

I believe it used to say “4 Wheel Steering” on the back of Honda Quaaludes.

I remember an ad in some old copy of National Geographic where it was a Windstar on a bunch of marbles.

Back in the 60s Mercedes had a badge that said “AUTOMATIC”
![]() 06/11/2016 at 18:00 |

They still brag about having 4 speed automatics on the backs of their cars, you know.

4WS is a cool enough feature to necessitate a badge tho
![]() 06/11/2016 at 18:11 |

I thought that was their AWD.
Or did I just hear a whoosh?
![]() 06/11/2016 at 18:12 |

Early 80's toyotas too. Especially trucks/4runners

Yesterday I saw a Ford Explorer boasting about the RSC advancetrac!

I used to leaf through my old school’s archived natgeos just to look at the car ads.

This was before six speeds were a thing

On old (early 50's) cars the brake and/or steering wheel would have large proclamations of POWER BRAKES or POWER STEERING.
That must have gotten old quickly.

DOHC

Ok same.

Technically BMW still has fuel injection badges- the “i” at the end of their model numbers was historically introduced to differentiate the injected models from carbureted ones.

This is true, I think they’re the last ones to note that. Mercedes used to do that with “E”, but now just notes if it’s a diesel with BlueTech or whatever. I wonder if it was strange for Germans to see BMWs that say “i” for injection, Mercedes that say “E” for Einspritzung, but also BMWs with “e” for Eta.....

Now you only see cars advertising their lack of ABS. Through long black marks on the highway.

LONG BED DAMMIT

Has any car ever had a “Safety Belts” badge?
![]() 06/11/2016 at 18:30 |

“ x number of valves”
![]() 06/11/2016 at 18:35 |

GM still puts “Stabilitrak” badges on the back of their Express vans.

Not sure, but I betcha there’s cars out there with “Airbag” or “SRS” badges.
